It is impossible for me to list all the names of those people who helped me in my Shark studies throughout the years. Most people have helped me learn from their writings in their books, documents, scientific papers, reports, studies etc... others from their videos, films, documentaries, photos, etc.. and others from personal communication. Most do not even know that they have taught me or helped me out in my quest to learn as much as possible about Sharks. This list is in no way complete and if by chance your name is not listed and you know that you have helped me out, please contact me and I will gladly add you on.

Being born on an island surrounded by the beautiful blue Mediterranean sea, it is no wonder that at a very early age, my father, Richard, threw me into the water, thus setting the foundations for my love for the ocean. When I was 3 years old, I already had my first mask and started to view the wonders beneath the waves. Later on, at the age of 8, along with my elder brother, Adrian, I discovered scuba diving.

In 1970, I saw the all time classic documentary by Peter Gimbel

"BLUE WATER WHITE DEATH", and learned about Ron & Valerie Taylor, and started following their adventures. I learned about the near fatal encounter of Rodney Fox and how his life changed after his incident. I started collecting every piece of Shark info I could find and my Shark fever began!

Then came Eugenie Clark, Jacques Yves Couteau, Al Giddings and John Stoneman, whose documentaries pushed me to learn more about the underwater world.

​

I then joined a local scuba diving club, "The Amphibians" and I trained up to C.M.A.S. 3 star diver. In 1990 I started working in a local diving centre and became a C.M.A.S. 2 star instructor. It was here that I was nicknamed "SHARKMAN" by our diving guests and my students.

​

My Shark research never stopped and my database was increasing at a fast rate. More scientists, writers, researchers and photographers came into the list with their works...
